                                                     Mental Health awareness in May


          Mental Health in just one month is not enough. Even though the month of May is Mental Health Awareness month (centerfordiscovery, 2018) and a good thing to advocate for, strongly for the month it needs to be more than just the month.
          I have been doing Horticulture and Irrigation for 17 years, and the moment of being content for me when doing Plants, is really quick after starting. With others it may take longer, but I have seen individuals open up talking when they normally do not over working with plants. Whether they are young or old, it does not matter, everyone can benefit from Plants and time.
         Horticulture Therapy is a life style Therapy using everyday activities to help with Mental Illness, similar to play therapy, equine therapy, and yoga and considered lifestyle therapies. But where else can you play in dirt and help things grow and hopefully have Insurance pay for it. There are many benefits from Gardening and Therapy, employment, skill development, and Self Esteem building and many others, but being aware of what is going on around us and having the opportunity to help serve those that may be in need will also help ourselves become better and more aware of those in need.                                                               Image result for child gardeningImage result for gardening disabilities
